Reasonable haircuts.
I regularly go here and see Sharon. I've found her to be friendly and listen to what you ask for but she will offer suggestions/help. Prices are reasonable and it is a casual environment. They don't push products on you.

Island Styles Salon: August Has Skills!
August has cut my hair several times, and he has done a terrific job with it. Truth: I am REALLY picky about who cuts my hair and what the stylist or barber does to it. August has excellent listening skills and the few times I've turned him loose to take artistic license, the result has been excellent. He has been able to achieve something that no other hair stylist I've subjected myself to has: August carves out true multi-function hair styles for me. With what he comes up with, I can where a more conservative style for work; and I can easily go vertical-crazy with it on the weekends.

Top local Southern Hair Salon!
This little, hidden local hair salon is the best for color, cut, and understanding what you want. My hair was destroyed by 'a posh downtown salon' - it was unevenly cut and the highlights were turning green. My mom referred me here, and once I walked in all of the stylsits took their time to look at my damaged hair and pictures of what my hair used to look like. August Alderman was my stylist, and before the resalvaging process he made sure to know exactly what I wanted before he started. August corrected my color and cut, and it is exactly what I wanted. Should have come to him the first go around and not listen to what The South Mag thinks is best.

For those with naturally curly hair.....help has arrived!
I have been a patron of this salon for the past five years. I have very thick, coarse, naturally curly hair which is prematurely gray and resistant to color. Sharon, who owns the Salon, knows how to work with naturally curly hair and is a master colorist. I have gone from hating my hair to actually liking it. I now receive compliments about my hair from complete strangers. Additionally, I always relax and have fun while I am there. Sharon and the other stylists in her salon are skilled professionals and nice people who make you feel at home. I highly recommend this salon.

Shanasy Rocks!
I've been going to Shanasy for several years now. There has never been a time I've been unhappy with her service. Shanasy is very professional and laid back. She listens to your needs and does not pressure you into doing anything you don't want. I also look forward to chatting with her every time I go in. She is dependable and honest. I've been going to Sharon for almost 9yrs now. She is sweet, accomodating, friendly, professional and all-around the best. I am horrible at judging looks for my hair and even worse at styling it. She has consistently found, with gentle suggestions, the best way to cut and style it, all the time considering my hair-handicaps! She is never pushy but always honest. I've never been disappointed when I've left her salon. Her abilities as a stylist and her character in general have earned my respect and loyalty.

August Alderman a hidden gem on Wilmington Island!
Back in December, after a very long and tiring week at work, I decided to treat myself to a blow out about an hour before I was to attend a Christmas party. My husband gets his hair cut by Shanassy at Island Styles, so I decided to "walk in" to see if by chance, anyone was available for a blow out. August ,with his signature mohawk and smile, greeted me and within minutes I was relaxing with a shampoo that was better than some massages I have had. I walked out an awesome blow out and something I did not expect...a peaceful, calm, soothed feeling.

Sharon is the best hair colorist around!
I've been going to Sharon for ten years now and her knowledge about color is fabulous! My hair always looks fantastic and she isn't afraid when I ask her to "step out of the box" when I asked for bright or different colors. When cutting my hair, she knows what style will work with the shape of my face. Sharon is all around a fantastic hair stylist.

SHANASY!!!!!
Shanasy is an excellent stylist! Not only did she listen to what I wanted, but the end result was EXACTLY what I was looking for! I just moved to Savannah, GA from Los Angeles, CA. I NEVER, EVER got exactly what I wanted in Cali from stylists, not even from many very high end salons I visited. Nobody has been able to satisfy my wants as far as my hair goes...not until now, now that I have been so blessed to have as great a hair stylist as Shanasy! I couldn't be happier with my rich, warm, chocolate brown color. It's warm, NOT red! Yes!!! I myself am licensed as a cosmetologist in California...so believe that what I am saying is legit! She has a great deal of experience, and is on top of the game!!! You owe it to yourself, and your hair to step into Island Hair Styles and Salon, and into Shanasy's chair!
