Cheap Salon
I love Lu Ross because I can get my legs waxed for $15 dollars. This is a super deal. However, you have to be willing to be worked on by students. And since they are students sometimes the appointment takes a little longer. But for the most part all the students I've had work on me have been really nice and sometimes they do a better job than at a salon.

Great Education
At the beginning of classes at Lu Ross Academy, I felt nervous and afraid of the unknown, yet I always wanted to have the opportunity to study cosmetology. Once I was in school I got to know the instructors and I realized that they were there to feed us knowledge and provide a safe learning environment for all of us. They are really there for you anytime you need them. I remember one time when I needed more help with state board exam and they acted fast to help me understand better. They also provided numerous guest speakers from professional salons to give us an opportunity to learn from somebody else and possibly network for the future. The majority of the students were extremely friendly and they made it fun. The administrators are also really friendly and professional and they listen to you. Another wonderful experience that I had was when I was given the opportunity to be an instructor aid. This was a memorable time for me. Overall I am really glad that I attended Lu Ross Academy.

I attended the Esthetician program at Lu Ross Academy in 2009. THE POSITIVES: The first 8 weeks of the Esthetician program students are considered freshman. Our kit included one set of Murad facial products and a set of Dermalogica products as well as an eyelash kit, makeup brushes, tweezer, and scissors. You are also provided a text and workbook and a carrying bag. In my opinion the kit contents were very nice. Right away you will be trained to do waxing and very soon after be able to wax clients. You will get plenty of opportunity for hands on training. The freshman instructor, Christina is very nice and will help you in any way she can. The makeup that they have in the school for the students to practice with IS old and no one uses it except for practicing on paper makeup faces. We all brought our own makeup to practice on each other.When you move to the senior class, your instructor will be Liz. She is very nice and knowledgeable. You must be proactive and make sure you to stay on

Do not attend Makeup class!
Please do your research before enrolling here. I sadly saw the bad reviews and still hoped they were wrong reviews. I wish I would have paid attention to them...To late now. After spending close to $3000 dollars, yes no typo, that's how much I spend overall for the makeup class. The instructor is full of it, her saying: Fake it til you make it is what will inspire you. There is no teaching, she will teach you a basic makeup, smokey eye and how to apply false eyelashes. They give you a book from the 80's and will have you do essays as if you were in college. There will be photo shoots and the concepts for the makeup, you guessed it...You come up with this. I didn't know it was going to be a self taught class. Fot that there is youtube and you save that money for better tools and you actually learn something.

My experience at Lu Ross,from the criteria to the instructors, was positive all the way around. If you are choosing which beauty school to attend by who has the coolest equipment or what's in style right now rock on, but if you want to pass state board and get a liscense to pursue your career Lu Ross is where you should attend. Not only is their passing rate of state board one of the highest around their priority is getting you the knowledge you need. The curriculum is very organized and structured but at the same time very enjoyable and fun. The instructors are amazing,each and every one of them. They all have something to teach you if you're willing to learn and offer you so many diffferent styles of hairdressing you get to find out what style will work for you from the

Makeup class is the real deal!
I am a graduate of the makeup artist class at Lu Ross Academy. My teacher was Holly Hughes and I was one of approximately 20 students in the class. The class consisted of lessons in theory, practical application, presentation and discussion. The students in my class had varied levels of experience, were different in age and were from all walks of life. While the teacher had to speak to these different levels of capabilities, I found the class to be instructive, insightful and empowering. Since having graduated, I have a well established business that in large part is thanks what I learned in my class and the networking opportunities that were initiated with my teacher. In looking back on the considerations that I made to attend the makeup class or not at Lu Ross, in retrospect I feel as though I made the right decision. Additionally, I have recommended the class to some of my friends who are also considering starting a career in the makeup/beauty industry.Worldwide > United States > Ventura > Specialty Schools
