Harter Bakery
Harter's bakery makes some of the best cakes and pastries. I don't know there is just something about the icing. They also have cookies, donuts and cupcakes that are so yummy. This is where a lot of people get their birthday cakes and they even do wedding cakes here. They are very reasonably priced. So make sure and check it out.

This place has been around since I was little. They always have a great selection of pastries and it smells soooo good inside. Their staff is always very friendly and I've never had a problem with anything I've ever ordered from here. Their cakes are delicious- we order them every year and for any event we need a cake. Their prices are really reasonable for a bakery.

Harter's
This bakery has been around forever for one simple reason- it is great! They have the best cakes and bakery goods around. They are more expensive than your regular grocery store, but are well worth it.

I bought my Wedding Cake there
My family has always loved Harters. From birthday cakes to wedding cakes, there is always something special there. They make wonderful donuts and have such a warm and caring spirit there. Great prices too.

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. . .BAD CAKE
Two days before my sister's wedding day, this bakery decided to notify her regarding the fact that they forgot to charge her for fondont icing. They asked for an addiitonal $300 eventhough it was wrote in the contract. In additon, they ruined the surprise of a groom's cake by telling the groom when calling their home. Harters would not honor the contract, instead, making her a very unhappy customer. It would of cost them pennies to provide good customer service.

cutest dog cake ever!

Still WONDERFUL...several years ago they changed hands, but the degree of excellence has continued if not gotten even better! I'd rate them as one of the best bakeries in the St. Louis area, if not the best!

PIES
Ordered MINCE MEAT pie specifically for Thanksgiving and also purchased a pre-made pecan. When we had dessert, the pie was actually DUTCH APPLE, they had given me the wrong pie. Great tasting, but disappointing that the counter girl didn't check better prior to bagging my order from the back of the bakery, since I never saw the pie. Will of course return for more business but will be more careful next time.

Stale dounuts
I bought a dozen doughnuts, Half of them were cake doughnuts with coconut & all six were either over cooked or stale but were all hard & dry. the other six were grate. I'd bought the cake doughnuts with coconut before & they were always good. I called to tell them & they like questioned my integrity to say they would check with the bakery as if need confirm truth. I found it to be insulting & they lost a good customer! They had no apology or offer to make it right.

Completely not what I ordered
We ordered a Minnie Mouse 1st birthday cake for our daughter. When I picked it up (after they called me to get it early because it was a holiday and they wanted to leave early) the cake was completely wrong. It had a Mickey Mouse layout on it without Minnie at all, didn't match up to the number of layout it was suppose to have on it (she double checked in the book), the colors were red, blue, and green, not pink like indicated on the order, and my daughters name was misspelled. When I complained to the lady that brought the cake out from the back she was rude and said there was nothing they could do about it at this point. The other nice younger girl who originally helped me asked if they have any extras they could add on, and the lady said no, but the younger girl did go into the back and handed me a plastic Mickey/Minnie to sit on the cake. It didn't really match and there was really no place to put it, which they didn't help place. I complained to the manager the next week and she s

i went to harter's for my wedding cake and was absolutely amazed. it was so moist and delicious and was exactly as i'd ordered it. they even put my fake flower on it as well as the ribbon i bought. great experience.

Beautiful cakes with care!
My 4 year old daughter has an obsession with ponies and unicorns. For her birthday cake she specifically stated she wanted a cake with a unicorn and a rainbow on it. I checked with all of the supermarket bakeries, all of whom just pointed to the book and said, if it isn't in there, we can't do it. Driving home and ready to give up, I happened to pass Harter's. I went inside was knocked over by the smell of all the pastries and sweets. Immediately a girl with a friendly smile came to greet me. I told her exactly what I was looking for. She got out the book and my heart sank. But inside this book, there were so many designs! Even hand drawn designs, and lo and behold, there was a unicorn! Thankful that I at least found a unicorn, I wasn't even going to mention the rainbow. But I didn't have to. She immediately said, how about we do this design and add a rainbow behind it with colors to match the unicorn. The finished product was incredible, even prettier than I had imagined. My daugh

Harter Bakery is impressing!
I have been in the catering management position for 4 years and the cake delivered to our venue on 10/30/09 was the BEST Wedding cake I have tasted. It was visually stunning, and one of our chef's agreed with me, that the cake was absolute PERFECTION!!--Black Forest Cake can sometimes go in either direction, but it was AMAZING--I will recommend Harter's to all of my potential brides whether they book with me or not!
