Great service
They have the most amazing bagels. The bagels are always fresh, even if they are a couple of days old.deli
I've tried Lou's Phoenician and Ken Witover's New Yorker--pastrami sandwich with coleslaw and 1000 island dressing on rye. Very good. However, you need to try their bagels, my favorite is zucchini. Kosher-style delicatessen. They also...Can you say I'm full?
If you're missing a great reuben sandwich or a 7 layer cake, make sure you stop by Chompie's in Tempe. The sandwiches are more than a meal, and the deserts are to die for!deli

best chicken in the pot w/ matzoh balls....and biggest corned beef sandwich in townBagel heaven!
Best bagels in Phoenix. These puppies are HUGE.just like home
Reminds me of the deli's back home (in NY), with great bagels and pastries as well as sandwiches and traditional deli fare.Authentic food and prices
Good food, great soup and amazing desserts. But everything is about $2 too expensive. Pancakes and eggs should not be $8. Even if you add bacon. A SMALL CUP of matzo ball soup should not be $5. I just decided it's not worth it, and I can go somewhere else or make breakfast at home. Maybe their lunch is more reasonable.Never again!
I was visiting from out of town and found this restaurant on-line. I called the Phoenix store and inquired if they had stuffed derma. The associate informed me that they did and when I told him where I was located, he informed me that I was much closer to the Tempe restaurant. I went to the Tempe location and when I asked the associate how many pieces of stuffed derma came in an order, he looked at me and it was obvious he did not know what I was talking about. He said he would ask someone and came back and told me his manager doesn't know what "derma" is. I explained that it was offered at the Phoenix restaurant and told him it was on the on-line menu. He said that the stores carry different items. Needless to say I was VERY disappointed. In addition, I ordered a corned beef and pastrami combo sandwich and when I returned to my hotel, found out that they only gave me corned beef. I was very excited to find a "New York" style deli and couldn't wait to have the stuffed derma. I was VERY disappointed with my experience. The Coney Knish was greasy and the rye bread was terrible. The only positive remark I have is that the chicken soup was excellent. Even the black and white cookie was stale.Bad Service
I won't be going there again. My brother and I ate there recently and were both shocked at how we were treated. Something is not right with management if their training of staff is no better then this. The employees are obviously stressed and are not happy. From a REAL New Yorker
I can clearly tell that anyone calling this place NY-style or "authentic" has never truly visited New York (or at least not a good deli there). Having grown up and spent my entire life in New York prior to coming out to Arizona to attend ASU (now finishing my last year!), AND being 100% Jewish, I am quite familiar with good Jewish NY food.Worldwide > United States > Tempe, AZ > Restaurants
