Well stocked and good prices
This store is owned by a third generation of of the family who established it. It is well stocked with army/navy surplus type items and also working and outdoor sports equipment and clothing. The staff is very helpful and accomodating.

bad business
Several years ago I rented a whitewater raft from army navy. When I went to return the raft, an employee removed the raft from my truck and proceeded to drag it across the parking lot. I could see that it was scraping on one of the folds and told him that I would help carry the raft to keep from damaging it. He rudely ignored me. The whole time he was obviously annoyed with something and came across very rude. When he unfolded the raft he saw the hole that HE caused and told us we had to be charged for it. Then he charged us a late charge for it being FIVE minutes late. Then he charged us a cleaning fee. Sure there was a little sand on the bottom, not more than the expected after use. But we actually returned the raft in CLEANER condition than when we received it. After all was said and done, all the fees added up to more than what it cost to rent the raft! I complained at the time but the employee said I would have to take it up with the manager who was not there at the time. I called

Interesting Store
Army Navy in downtown Missoula is an interesting store. I often wonder how they have been able to stay in business. I have experienced it first hand and also heard many other people talk about their rudeness and horrible customer service. I would not recommend going there.
