McMahan M.D. was a United States pioneer in moving eye surgery out of the hospital.We call most of what we do procedures rather than surgery because the experience is so much different than a patients typical perception of surgery. Our patients are usually able to eat and do their regular activities right up to the time of the procedure and can even wear their own comfortable clothes into the room. In general, IV’s and general anesthesia are not necessary because only the eye, not the patient, is put to sleep. Patients often talk with the doctor during the procedure, which usually only takes a few minutes to perform. Rarely do our procedures last over an hour. In short, SEC our goal is to keep you comfortable and relaxed during your entire experience.While we’ve made having a procedure done at our clinic more comfortable for you, you can rest assured we’ve done so without sacrificing safety standards.
