I found my best friend at Home Raised Puppies

As you can see from my profile picture, I have a beautiful male miniature poodle. He is now 9 months old, has been nothing but healthy, and has a wonderful disposition. He doesn't shed and doesn't make me sneeze the way many dog breeds and all cats do. He is my best friend and everyone who meets him thinks he is the most well-behaved, sweet, adorable thing the've ever seen.
At first I looked into adopting a young dog or puppy through petfinder and some rescue societies, but ran into a brick wall. I am a responsible homowner, have a loving family, and have a huge back yard for a dog to run around. The rescue people said that because I have children they would not place a dog in my home. At first I thought this might be because a rescue dog might have been mistreated and could snap at a kid or something, but no-it is for the protection of the DOG (not the kids).
Then I called and emailed some breeders I found on the net. They talked about the shows their dogs had had won and their lineage and so on. The prices were ridiculous. I was not looking for the professional Mr. Universe of dogs and I don't care about "Papers". I just wanted a furry family member!
Now I have seen the pictures of puppy mills on Oprah and I certainly would never support that kind of cruelty. I did not want to buy a dog from a pet store because I have heard that the dogs come from puppy mills.
A friend (who has an adorable, sweet natured chiuaha) told me to go to Home Raised Puppies becaue they get their dogs from humane, often local, sources and she had a great experience there.
I found Home Raised Puppies to be completely professional, clean, humane, and easy to deal with. Our puppy was in a wood shaving-filled plastic kiddie pool with only one other puppy. No other dogs were even in the room (which was so clean you could lick the floor). The owner told me that the 2 poodles were from a family in New Britain. The owner was very patient with me as I made my decision. My little poodle boy was in perfect health, but she assured me I could bring him back if he got sick and get a different puppy. The price was very fair.
They also had pugs, bull dogs, boston terriers, yorkies, yorkie-poos, and shi-poos. They all looked very healthy and were in very clean pens and pools. I did not see crowding or any other conditions that made me uncomfortable in any way. I think the people who wrote some of the ugly reviews here on City Search took some creative license in describing this business in order to serve their own needs.
Owning a dog is a huge responsibility and please do not get a dog without doing your research!!!! (If you are reading these reviews you probably already are and you know that some breeds are not good for kids or the elderly.) Training the dog is a lot of work, but it is worth it. Of course it's nice to adopt a dog and save him from euthenasia... but if you can't do that and are looking for a nice reputable place to get your puppy then Home Raised Puppies is a fine place to go.

Odd?

I found this place a little... odd? I had called them as well as another place. Both places had the breed. But because the prices at Home Raised Puppies were better I went out of my way to get one from them. So I get there and it's very "homely." The lady that showed me around was a little comfortable around me and my boyfriend as far as the way she acted. As if we were long time friends in her home, not too professional. We were not allowed to see where they kept the pups. They kind of just disappeared and came back with the dog we wanted to see. The dog was absolutely filthy. Fine, they go poop and they play in it. But we called ahead of time-you think they'd at least check and make sure it's in the best condition. Needless to say, since they were secretive and not too caring about the way they treated the puppy I drove all the way back to my area. After telling the 2nd pet shop about my experience they were nice enough to make a better deal. As much as I wanted to "save" that puppy, I did not want to support their ways. I hope that dog found a wonderful family and pray it didn't die from a sickly disease.

I found nothing odd or filthy

I went and bought a puppy at home raised puppies and the people we meet were very nice! My wife and I saw many different puppies, since we were not sure about which breed we wanted. Not one puppy was dirty they actually smelled of pine bedding. They were playing together having a blast! We ended up getting a toy size chihuahua. The puppy is the life of the party at our house and we have had a good experience. The people there supplied us with alot of information and advised us to call if we had any others. Would recommend.

Where is the validity

Hello and where is the validity to any of these reviews. But there are fools who actully believe anything they hear. Are these even real customers. Do you blame the owner for bringing out the pups one at a time? Just look at the wack jobs he is dealing with. The pups are fine it is the morans who buy them or the people who always have something to bitch about, you know the kind? I have a dog from them, believe it or not. If reading these reviews is the research you do then you live in virtually abusive computer world.

Not fancy or frilly but cute and clean pups

Not a fancy place but clean and good knowledge. Helpful infomation and good instructions, which guided me well through training. I purchased a little mix that is really a good dog! I would recommend this place. The prices were reasonable and the puppies looked well cared for.
