I recently moved to the Eugene area so I was looking for a new optometrist and found this place. There’s no way I would go back here. This was the only time in my 22 years of optometrists that I've ever had a bad experience and the first time the office of any medical professional has been downright rude to me. In retrospect, I realize why I was the only person in their office this day. The first problem I experienced was that I felt like I was quickly ushered out the door and got the feeling that they weren't interested in my business. After my eye exam, although my prescription hadn't changed much, they didn't even ask me if I needed or wanted new glasses. They looked at my old glasses and read their prescription to compare it to my current prescription so surely they saw how scratched up and old my current pair is. They didn't even offer me a chance to buy a new pair though. They just walked me to the door and said goodbye. I was baffled that I was leaving without new glasses. I mean, that's why I was there to begin with, right? Maybe it was because my prescription hadn't really changed and my insurance didn't cover a new pair. Regardless, should they at least ask me if I am interested in buying new frames or lenses? That wasn't all though. When I received my bill, the office visit was $150! That's more than double of any place I had ever been. $150 seemed like a very high price for just a standard eye exam so I called the office. I was told, "Well, that's the price and if you don't like it then tuff. That's the price." As if that wasn't bad enough, I was even more appalled when the woman told me, "I'm sorry we can't charge the same prices as Wal-Mart and other discount stores" somehow insinuating that I was a Wal-Mart shopper. That really made me mad because I haven't been in a Walmart in over 20 years. I was now being insulted because I said the bill was too high? This experience was just not making any sense. I've been wearing glasses for 22 years and I have never paid more than $85 for a basic eye exam and I've never been insulted. I explained that I would go ahead and pay the full amount owed if I had to but if I had to pay that amount, not only would I not come back, but my fiancé would not be scheduling an appointment either. I was told that it was my choice and she didn’t care. She said they have plenty of customers and didn’t need the business of myself or my fiancé. Frankly, if that’s true, I’d have to ask why I was the only customer there when I had my appointment. It seemed like business was pretty slow that day. I'm not surprised either. This was just a bad experience all around. No way I would ever go back to this office; much less recommend them to anyone.
