More than a great steak!
My boyfriend and I dined here before attending a show at the Atwood. It was an experience that surpassed our expectations! We allowed an hour and a half for dinner and let our server know of the show time. He (and the kitchen) timed everything perfectly for us! The server was knowledgable about the menu, but not pretentious. We enjoyed a bottle of red wine--Gnarly Head Zinfandel--which was an amazing value at $32. It also was a perfect compliment to the meal we chose. The ahi tuna appetizer was better than I've had at many sushi spots. My boyfriend and I shared two sides--horseradish mashed potatoes and asparagus. Both sides were very large portions and a good value for the price. We also shared a 12 oz. filet mignon which melted in our mouths! It was phenomenal! All entrees come with an iceberg salad with chopped tomotoes and blue cheese dressing. The salad was very fresh and a good mix of flavors; however, the dressing was too heavy. When the steak and sides arrived, a manager checked with us after a mere 30 seconds to ensure everything was done to our liking. Very impressive. We didn't have dessert, but we'll be back to Sullivan's in the future for another dining experience.

Worst Experience in High End Dining
I would say that my last experience at Sullivan's Steakhouse in Anchorage was the worst. The service was so bad that we ended up walking out. We picked the place for our anniversary dinner because we heard good reviews about it. However, the wait was too long for our food. We were there for an hour and all we were served was our drinks. If we would not have asked for bread, that would not have been served either. It was clear that our waiter had forgotten about our appetizer and dinner order. We were seated right at 7 pm and it was 7:45 when we finally ask our waiter if our appetizers were at least coming soon. He left to check on it and when he came back, he said that it was coming. At 8:00, the appetizers came and it was the wrong order. By this time, my husband and I were already very upset so we asked to speak to the head waiter. I must say that the head waiter was very accomodating. He offered to give us free dinner and for him to be our waiter but we rejected and chose to still leave. I just can't believe that a high end restaurant would have bad service like this. We have eaten at a numerous high end restaurants in Anchorage such as Marx Bros., Simon's, Orso's, etc. and have gotten very good service. We never experienced waiting for appetizer's for an hour. It was obvious that we were forgotten by our waiter.

a little piece of the big city here in anchorage
i love living here in anchorage. but being from the northeast i miss the selecton of places to dine i enjoyed in the DC area. i whent to Sullivan's last week and it was like being back home. there was such a great atmosphere. Loud music and great service combined with great food! you just can't beat that. i dropped by on thursday and there was a great bar crowd. great looking girls keeping my drinks full and and awesome band to entertain. i was no less impressed with the service staff in the dining room. the people of anchorage now have a great opportunity to enjoy the best the northeast has to offer right in or own back yard. i hope soon more resturants of this caliber will be coming to our area.

They don't care!
I made a reservation at Sullivan's. My husband and I wanted to go out for a nice dinner and drinks. We even dressed up. When we got there they tried to seat us at that table by the entrance! And we had a reservation! There were plenty of open booths too. So we naturally asked if we could have a booth instead. We waited at our booth for 15 minutes and no one broght us menus or took our drink order. We only got our glasses filled with water. We walked out of there and ate at Ginger instead and had wonderful food and service. I'm never going back to Sullivan's.

Cocktails
I love the cocktails. Their Lemon Drop is the best in town. The atmosphere is very nice and I have enjoyed the food I've had.

Steaks R Us
Sullivan's is a typical high end steakhouse. Pricey but you get what you pay for. Food is good to very good. I would not say it is outstanding. I have found the service to be attentive. Although servers are not especially knowledgeable they are always very accommodating. I rate Sullivan's average as compared to similar places elsewhere. And frankly, once you are inside you could be anywhere in the USA. There isn't any local color or connection to Anchorage or Alaska. I like something a bit more unique.

Steak or Bust!
I was recently in Anchorage with some buddies doing some Salmon fishing. The red were running slower than normal and after a days of nothing but Salmon, Salmon, Salmon all I wanted a steak.

My husband and I were humiliated and insulted by the manager there. Our two year old daughter was with us and she was laughing. The manager came up to us and told us either shut the kid up or get out. I have never been so disrespected at a restaurant before. Before we entered we asked if children are allowed. The waitress even complimented us on how well behaved our child was. The manager has no people skills and was very rude. It was a very embarrassing experience, while the manager was insulting us.

Pure Heaven on a Plate and in a Glass!
I have never been to a five star restaurant with such an upbeat great staff until I went to Sullivan's Steakhouse. Ialways feel welcome from the moment I walk in the door all while receiving five star treatment. Oh and the food is fantastic! The filet and lobster are my two favorites. They melt in your mouth! They are a matini and live jazz bar and both make you want to stay all night; especially on Thurs. and Sun. for the 1/2 price bar entrees. This restaurant is a can't miss in Anchorage Ak.!Worldwide > United States > Anchorage, AK > Steakhouses
