North Texas State Hospital

North Texas State Hospital welcomes all visitors to the facility. We ask for understanding in that the facility is the home to over 600 individuals in a variety of treatment programs.

All visitors will stop at the Security Gate at the respective campus to be given instructions regarding visiting policies. A strict 15mph policy is enforced on all campus streets. Visitors should also be aware that weapons, contraband items and tobacco products are not allowed on campus. Visitation is arranged in consult with the patient’s treatment team and with appropriate consent to release information to visitors.

When a visitor arrives at the Wichita Falls Campus, they will be greeted by security personnel at the front gate and provided directions to the Family Center where they will register and receive a Visitor’s Identification Badge. The Switchboard Operator or Family Center staff will contact the identified program and confirm that the patient agrees to see that visitor. Then, visitors will be given a Hospital map with directions to the identified program, or, staff may bring the patient to the Family Center.

When a visitor arrives at the Vernon Campus, they will be greeted by security personnel at the front gate and provided directions to Security. Visitors will receive a Visitor’s Identification Badge, undergo a search and pass through a metal detector before being escorted to the visitation area by security personnel.
