Violently ill after eating Jake's seafood
I got a horrific case of food poisoning after eating shrimp at this restaurant. I contacted them by phone and email to let them know about it, and never received a response. I was ill with SEVERE stomach cramps, vomiting and diarrhea...Never been here but would like to
Would like to visit.The BEST
I have been going to Jakes since I was a child and have great memories. Have done a lot of traveling and have not found a better restaurant. Service is fantastic and the food is excellent. A great value for the food and serviceOutstanding Happy Hour and More
If you know Stumptown you know about Jakes. The lunches and dinners are still excellent after all these years. Even more so their Happy Hour will make anyone happy, and if your hungry, you're in luck - the HH food is superb and the pricing is a bargain. I have been to Jakes 2-3 times a year for 25+ plus years and it never disappoints. Recently, four of us sat outside and the wait staff was timely and helpful. The drinks top notch with the house margarita still a standard to measure others by. Food items from $1.95 to $4.95 all served as if it was an entree. Calamari, gumbo, cajun chicken, sweet potato fries, mussels, fish taco's, humus, or the burger, all very good. The team at Jake's truly "gets it" and I recommend you get some too!Clam Chowder
5-stars for the clam chowder. I was a bit dissapointed that McCormick and Schmick's did not have the clam chowder on their menu (reallly, a seafood restaraunt without clam chowder!). Luckily this outpost is a few blocks away and serves delecious clam chowder. Also look for the framed letter from about the guy who got his tie cut off - funny stuff.A sad state of affairs
Once my favorite but no more. Somethings need to change and evolve but Jake's.....no way....no how and yet you've become just a shadow of your old self.A fond reunion
Had not been to Jakes for many years - just too busy trying all of the new restaurants in PDX. However this weekend our plans changed last minute and our friend suggested Jakes and we were able to get a table.Best seafood around
The best lobster around. Pricey but worth it.Favorite Restaurant!!
This is my husband and mine's favorite place to eat. The dungeness crab tortellini and the stuff salmon are amazing!! We even got engaged at this restaurant... they printed the proposal on the top of my menu :) If you love seafood you have to try this place out.Jake's Was a Hit!
Super-gracious host welcomed us, above & beyond gracious waiter suggested the best food we've ever eaten at any restaurant. Excellent presentation of food. Try the Oven Roasted Crab & Shrimp Stuffed Salmon with dessert of Chocolate Bag (filled with white chocolate mouse, fresh raspberries, blueblerries, blackberries, topped with whipped cream and served wtih raspberry coulis). Yum! We weren't very hungry so asked to split the main course and dessert. The waiter did not look at all disappointed but admitted he couldn't eat a whole meal himself. We left him the super nice tip he deserved! :) Will definitely go back there.First Visit - So Disappointed
The history of this famous Portland restaurant was the best part. And, the atmosphere is very happening. I love seafood. I had the worst fish and chips I've ever eaten. I don't treat myself to them often, and I thought oh they will be so good here, so I must! They were burnt! I really should have sent them back. My husband was also displeased with his meal. The prices are crazy expensive, which is totally fine as long as you get what you pay for. Won't go there again. Many other places which are not as expensive with better food.Eat the menu, not the fish.
If one could eat reputation and history, this would perhaps be a good restaurant. However, if one likes and appreciates seafood, stay far away from Jakes. At one point I considered putting salt on the menu and eating it. It would have had more flavor than any of the four dishes we had. How can one take fresh seafood and extract all of the taste? I have eaten seafood all over the world and I have never paid so much for so little. Is this a Portland joke? Is there anything less than one star?American Express
