Great selection of food

Not as nice as the Chapel hill branch but still pretty decent. Good selection of organic foods. Has a nice meet section where you can get hormone free meats.

PROS: good selection
CONS: its in durham!

Good for some kinds of specialty groceries, regular things are too pricy, look elsewhere for hot bar and salad bar

This Whole Foods used to be a better store; I am speaking as a customer that has shopped there from its beginning. It is smaller than others, and peak times are frustrating with crowded aisles and jammed register lines. Parking is also a downer sometimes. I use this store mostly for the few specialty items, like extra-firm tofu that I can't get easily elsewhere. The fresh bread is also excellent. Produce and some other items are overpriced for the quality. Also, there is a poorer variety of produce than in the past. The dairy department can be inconsistent; there are days when items are not stocked, which is really inconvenient. The areas that need most improvement are the salad bar and the hot bar. The salad bar used to be better, but now there are no decent containers. They seem to be fixated on too-thin, dinky, leaky, floppy cardboard takeout containers that are just plain unpleasant to use. Especially considering the relatively high prices for items. Actually, the selection in the salad bar is nice enough. However, you are forced to put everything in a poor-quality, sloppy container for takeout or choose between either a tiny or a gigantic plastic bowl if you are eating in. I used to be a regular salad bar customer when there were decent containers, but I couldn't take the new ones. The hot bar is not so good. Many times, the items are either floating in grease (I do not exaggerate) or oozing grease. Much of the food there is just plain unattractive. Many selections are greasy, gloppy stew-type dishes or plain steamed veggies. The only takeout containers for the hot bar are cheap paper plates or the same thin, cardboard containers as the salad bar. The management is basically unresponsive about these issues. The hot bars at the Raleigh Whole Foods (I live in Durham but go there to eat!) or Weaver Street Market in Carrboro are MUCH better.
