Richard Opfer's auctions are the smoothest running of any that I've been to in the Baltimore area. They are fast and thorough but always polite and often very entertaining, which is important when you have to stand around waiting to bid. The staff is polite and very helpful and there are people to help load heavy things if needed. They get good consignments from everyday household stuff to museum quality items. The noise level is very high and it can be crowded but otherwise it's a great sale.RICHARD OPFER AUCTIONS
One of the most honest auctions I have ever attended.truth be known
Richard Opfer has been in business for almost 40 years and is known for his candor. He does not believe in misleading people...buyers or sellers and he comes very highly recommended. His employees are hard-working, honest and well liked. In fact, Opfer Auctioneering actually encourages new consignors to attend an auction, so that they are comfortable with the process. Unfortunately there are those who choose not to do that because they are anxious to meet a deadline and may be left feeling disappointed. My guess would be that anyone who would try to imply that this auction company does not act in a professional manner and have the highest standards, is a person who clearly is uneduacated about what an auction is, and not because they were misled to believe something else. If I've heard Rick (owner) say it once, I've heard it a thousand times....call a spade a spade or Tell it like it is. His reputation has been built on his honesty, hard work and knowledge....truth be known!Robbed Blind
My furniture sold for $5 and $10 - stuff that was estimated by them by a high and low "estimate" to go for much more. They were rude and angry that I did not give them other stuff they had looked at (antiques) and thank God I didn't. They told me what I sent was "crap", and I got $85.00 for 20 items including a solid wood spool table in perfect condition, Brand New Queen Anne Crewel Chair (both sold for $10) and a beautiful oriental painting went for $2.00! Some items I gave them I got nothing for! I guess they "fell off of their list". I was robbed blind!Worldwide > United States > Lutherville-Timonium, MD > Antiques
