Unicorn Golf Course

The Unicorn Golf Course was originally built in 1928 by the Boston Athletic Association as a premiere 18 hole private golf course. The course was designed by the renowned architectural firm of Stiles and Van Kleek, which covered portions from both the towns of Stoneham and Woburn. In 1972 the town of Stoneham purchased the property within Stoneham and redesigned the course to play as a premiere nine hole course now known as Unicorn. The golf courses traverses a wonderful hilltop piece of land, with some holes playing out in the open, and others surrounded by huge old oak trees lining its beautiful fairways. From the blue tees the course is a par 35 and is 3,234 yards long with a slope rating of 126.0 and a course rating of 70.8. From the red tees the course is a par 37 and is 2,902 yards long with a slope rating of 129.0 and a course rating of 73.0. For the beginner or expert alike, join us and warm up before your round on our practice putting green and two chipping greens. While playing through this course both beginners and experienced golfers will love the way this course pushes you to work on your accuracy and short game. Players of all ages will enjoy our fantastic layout and friendly pro shop staff.

The mission of the Unicorn Golf Course and Stoneham Oaks Golf Course is to provide recreation opportunities for the citizens of Stoneham and visitors alike by providing the public with the highest quality golf facilities at a reasonable fee with the best customer service and course conditions that we can provide.

Since 2016 the Unicorn clubhouse has been refreshed with a new coat of paint, 60 inch flat panel tvs, new décor, and beautiful tables and chairs. As with all Sterling Golf managed courses, we strive to provide the public with superior customer service and great golf in a relaxed friendly atmosphere.

The clubhouse and lounge are normally open from dawn to dusk during the golf season, and 9:00am to 3:00pm during the off-season. So stop in to check out the facilities and meet our staff.
