James has an extensive history in health care, serving in the US Navy for 25 years as a critical care, emergency room, and combat nurse. He graduated from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Denver, Colorado, in 2018 and received his psychiatric nurse practitioner certificate from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) that same year.

In private practice, James specializes in the diagnosis and management of anxiety and bipolar disorder. He also has extensive experience treating depression, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and insomnia, as well as the management of dual diagnoses for mental or emotional conditions that co-occur with substance use disorders.
