I hold a Master of Business Administration degree from UC Davis, with a specialization in Finance. During my academic journey, I also had the privilege of participating in the Master of Accounting program, where my interest in tax planning was ignited. Under the guidance of Professor Robert Yetman, I delved into complex tax planning cases. Taxes impact our lives significantly, often accounting for 10% to 50% of our total income, yet many individuals harbor a widespread aversion, lack of knowledge, and even fear of the tax system.
Before embarking on my current financial advisory path, I enjoyed a fulfilling ten-year career as a dedicated IT professional. One of the highlights during that period was receiving the prestigious "Best Business Case Study" award for "Winning by Positioning" from the Economic Observer. The subsequent decade primarily revolved around raising my two energetic boys. During this time, I pursued my graduate studies, engaged in consulting work, and dedicated my time to volunteering within my community.
In 2019, I took a significant step by becoming a business owner in San Francisco. Throughout the process of purchasing, operating, and eventually exiting a small business, I gained a profound firsthand understanding of financial management, accounting, and taxation, and their substantial impact on both business and personal life.
I am also proud to hold the title of Enrolled Agent (EA) with the IRS, allowing me to practice tax matters in all 50 states and represent taxpayers before the IRS. I am registered with the California Tax Education Council for state-specific tax issues.
In 2022, I successfully completed the Certified Financial Planning course at UC Berkeley Extension and passed the CFP board exam. This journey has been part of my ongoing commitment to further my professional education and gain a deeper understanding of different perspectives on financial planning.
Beyond my professional life, I am a 500-hour certified Yoga practitioner, a certified USA Swimming Official, and actively serve as the treasurer for several local nonprofits. These diverse interests and experiences have shaped my approach to financial advisory, emphasizing the importance of a well-rounded and balanced life.
