Out of the Fog in Mamaroneck, New York, helps adults struggling with substance use disorders get out of their cycle of addiction. Scott Swanezy, LCSW, is an experienced substance abuse specialist who’s helped thousands of people grappling with addiction using a straightforward and plain-spoken approach.

Scott provides addiction counseling for individuals and couples primarily using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) methods, helping his clients become aware of how their thoughts and behaviors play a role in their addiction.

Sobriety is a journey that requires a lot of hard work. Scott collaborates with his clients, clearly showing them the reality of their situation and why they keep turning to drugs or alcohol to fill the void. Scott also provides evaluations for the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Support (OASAS) to individuals with driving under the influence and driving while intoxicated (DUI/DWI) charges. 

Scott has a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and a Master in Management Health Care (MMHC) from Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 2006, Scott earned his Master's in Social Work at Fordham School of Social Work in the Bronx, New York. 

In addition to his private practice work at Out of the Fog, Scott is the addiction and substance abuse counselor and case manager at Hazelden Betty Ford, the United Health Alcohol Clinic, the Freedom Institute, and the Addiction Institute in New York City.
