Svetlana Kovaleva, DO, is a board-certified neurologist with a subspecialty in epilepsy who sees patients 18 years and older. She attended medical school at Novosibirsk State Medical University in Novosibirsk, Russia and earned her medical degree from Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri. She then completed her internship and residency at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Kovaleva completed an epilepsy fellowship at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children's Hospital with Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
Dr. Kovaleva treats various neurological conditions, including epilepsy, headaches and migraines, stroke, Bell's palsy, Guillain-Barré syndrome, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, restless leg syndrome, sleep disorders, carpal tunnel syndrome and central pontine myelinolysis. Dr. Kovaleva offers Botox injections for migraines, occipital nerve blocks for occipital neuralgia and interpretation of routine electroencephalograph (EEG) tests and videos.
Dr. Kovaleva works with her patients to build strong and trusting relationships. She is passionate about educating her patients so they feel empowered to participate in decision-making regarding their treatment plans. She strives to provide patient-centered and science-based care to help patients take control of their lives.
