Elizabeth (Beth) Moroney is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of New York who holds appointments as an Instructor of Psychology in Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College as well as an Assistant Attending Psychologist at New York Presbyterian Hospital.She then went on to complete her Ph.D. in Psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and her predoctoral clinical internship at Lucille Packard Stanford Children’s Hospital/Children’s Health Council. She is currently finishing her two-year postdoctoral fellowship through the Pediatric OCD, Anxiety, and Tic Disorders program (POCAT) at Weill Cornell Medical College/New York Presbyterian Hospital.Dr. Moroney’s clinical expertise is in working with children and adolescents with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders, and related conditions. She also has a passion for supporting parents of children struggling with these conditions and involving family members in treatment. She draws from evidence-based practices including cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure and response prevention, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness approaches, and parent management training in her work with youth and families. She is also trained in the Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) intervention.Dr. Moroney’s research interests include studying familial, social, and biological factors that contribute to mental health challenges in children and adolescents, including how to modify and/or harness those factors to improve treatment outcomes. She is also interested in the use of technology in disseminating evidence-based treatments and works on studies here at Cornellintegrating such practices into app-based technologies.
