DMV Psychiatric Wellness is a patient-centered mental health practice in Washington, DC and Bowie, MD. Nurse practitioner and veteran Oko Akrong, PMHNP-BC, leads the practice and strives to provide his patients with exceptional and accessible mental health care. Due to his veteran status, he understands the widespread and often extreme effects of mental illness. 

Mr. Oko Akrong earned his nursing degree from Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, Illinois, before completing a graduate degree in nursing administration from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Illinois. He then finished his psychiatric nurse practitioner degree from Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts. 

At DMV Psychiatric Wellness, Mr. Oko Akrong collaborates with his patients as he navigates them through the process of getting the specific mental health care they need. He specializes in using a solution-focused approach to treat anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, OCD, bipolar disorder, behavioral issues, and other conditions or circumstances related to mental health. 

Mr. Oko Akrong encourages his patients to see themselves as captains of their care as he serves as their navigator toward improved mental health and happiness. With telehealth services, medication management, and counseling, he ensures that every patient has access to the highest level of care and compassion.
