Essential Sailing Industries

Essential Sailing Industries is run by husband and wife team Jason and Emily Knott, who started as a mobile service and store around the Port of Friday Harbor. In 2022 they have established the Essential Sailing Outlet at the Jensens boat yard right outside of the town of Friday Harbor.



Jason has a life long love for boating and helping customers have a wonderful experience on the water. He started working on boats more than twenty years ago, including working on charter boats, managing a charter fleet and working on crab and fishing boats. In the early 2000s, he invented an electric sailboat motor (SolidNav) which he sold nationwide. Jason loves finding the best solution and technology for boats and solving complicated problems. This is the excitement we bring to every product we carry in the store.

In addition to the store, we have highly qualified employees available to do bottom painting on your boat, install zincs, diesel heaters and more. Upstairs from the store is a consignment shop.
