Dr. Hormozd Bozorgchami, MD is an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery and Neurology at Baylor College of Medicine. He Joined Baylor St. Luke's in 2022. Prior to this, he was associate director of the Oregon Health & Sciences University (OHSU) Stroke Center. Dr. Bozorgchami completed his fellowships in Vascular Neurology and Interventional Neuroradiology at OHSU. Prior to this, he completed his Neurology residency at University of California, Irvine. He graduated from New York Medical College in 2007.
Dr. Bozorgchami is internationally recognized for his research in acute stroke management and brain aneurysm treatment. He has participated in more than 80 multi-center clinical stroke trials and worked as a site principal investigator in at least 20 NIH and industry-sponsored ischemic stroke trials. His contributions have led to the invention and implementation of several acute stroke therapy devices used internationally.
While in Oregon, he was Chair of the Oregon Stroke Committee, which was established by the Oregon Health Authority. The aim of the committee is to improve the quality of stroke care throughout the state. During his tenure, he helped implement an updated system of care for acute stroke treatment aimed to improve patient access to acute stroke therapies across the state.
Dr. Bozorgchami is part of a multi-disciplinary team of Neurosurgeons, Radiologists and Neurologists providing the most advanced treatment options for various cerebrovascular disorders. He is a patient advocate and treats every patient encounter as an opportunity to create positive relationships even in the most challenging of circumstances. His team approach ensures that patients have a clear understanding of their clinical situation and don’t “fall through the cracks.”
