About Bruce R. Gordon, M.D.

Bruce Gordon is a graduate of Stuyvesant High School and Brooklyn College where he was a Salk Scholar and member of Phi Beta Kappa. He is a graduate of the Yale University School of Medicine. He did his house staff training and fellowship training at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center where he was also the Assistant Chief Medical Resident.

Dr. Gordon works at The Rogosin Institute, an affiliate of New York Presbyterian Hospital. His current positions at Rogosin include Executive Vice-president for Clinical Affairs, Director of Clinical Research, Director, Maurice R Greenberg Comprehensive Lipid Control Center and Director of Apheresis. Dr. Gordon is a member of The Rogosin Institute’s Board of Directors. His faculty appointment is at Weill Cornell Medical School where he is Professor of Clinical Medicine.

Dr. Gordon has a longstanding interest in the treatment of patients with extremely elevated cholesterol levels. He helped develop a novel therapy called LDL apheresis for the treatment of refractory hypercholesterolemia. Children and young adults with the severe genetic form of hypercholesterolemia look forward to normal lives as a result of the development of this technology. He was responsible for the institution of this procedure at The Rogosin Institute and later throughout the United States. Dr. Gordon has authored more than 50 peer reviewed scientific papers and 5 book chapters.
