About STL Athletic Development

Many times games are won or lost by the speed of the athletes. It is my intent in my program to improve players Speed, Vertical Jump, and Strength. A facet of my progression system is each skill will be combined into multi-directional movement patterns that will be encountered in the game. I believe it isn’t the quickest athlete in one direction that is effective, it is the athlete that can counter every move with 2nd, 3rd, or 4th quick movements.

Functional Movement Screen assessments are a very important part of my program. The FMS captures fundamental movements, motor control within movement patterns, and competence of basic movements of basic movements uncomplicated by specific skills. It will determine the greatest areas of movement deficiency, demonstrate limitations or asymmetries, and eventually correlate these with an outcome.

The Strength part of my program is my proven belief in Body Weight and Olympic Lifts. The Body Weight progression is a designed program that has worked for me over the last 9 years. The tools and skills include Kettlebells, Dumb bells, Planks, Bands, Sand Bags, Pushups, Running in Sand and Pull Ups. Using the combination of body weight and movement — takes coordination & strength!

I believe increasing Strength Stabilization of an Athlete first—you cannot expect an Athlete to perform in a competitive game environment without being able to Stabilize—Flexibility, Mobility & Stability—it’s Neuromuscular Training. I also believe in Maximal Strengthening—Olympic Lifts-—Romanian Dead Lifts (RDL’s), Cleans and Power Clean’s are a big part of learning to be a Powerful Athlete——————– Speed x Strength = Power. All of these programs are taught with the correct Technique & Form as well the appropriate weight for the appropriate age.

Lastly, we come to the most important—Nutrition—How they eat, what they eat and when they eat is an important part of what I teach. The Athlete must take ownership. Some athletes need to gain and some need to lose–I have helped both. Lean Muscle Mass—that is our goal!
