John Davidson, M.D.

In his distinguished career, John Davidson, MD has performed more than 30,000 major eye surgeries as a board-certified ophthalmologist, including over 2,500 laser cataract surgeries. He is the second-highest rated ReSTOR® IOL implanting surgeon in all of California and has more experience with ReSTOR® than any other surgeon in the Greater Los Angeles area. Dr. Davidson is a lead instructor for laser cataract surgery courses for both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

The recipient of many prestigious awards, Dr. Davidson has been named one of America’s Top Ophthalmologists by both America’s Top Doctors and Castle Connolly every year since 2007. And, since 2013, Dr. Davidson has been included in the Los Angeles Super Doctors directory as a leading ophthalmologist in the region. He is also a key opinion leader for laser cataract surgery at national ophthalmology meetings.

Dr. Davidson earned his M.D. with Highest Distinction in the top 1 percent of his class at Indiana University. After completing his ophthalmology residency, he won the Clinical Fellow Research Award at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles. He has been performing cataract surgeries since 1988, and LASIK and PRK since 1999 following FDA approval of those procedures. He has been honored with the prestigious Physician Recognition Award from the American Medical Association for having more than 2,000 hours of Continuing Medical Education since his graduation from medical school (a rate quadruple that which is required to maintain licensure!).

A charitable person at heart, Dr. Davidson strives to bring the gift of sight to all his patients on eye surgery missions to developing nations. He spends his free time as a volunteer physician for SEE International, which is devoted to helping restore sight in blind individuals worldwide and has provided modern eye care to many hundreds of people. He has also provided surgical training to local ophthalmologists in Albania, Mexico, Venezuela, and Vietnam.
