Sustainability is our specialty in the flower business, we grow flowers in underused and neglected areas in the neighborhood and offer these NoPo grown flowers to customers by the stem, by the bunch or we can create beautiful bouquets or arrangements for delivery or pick up.

Our History:

I jumped at the chance to work with flowers. Creating art with Nature's bounty, was a dream come true. After learning the tricks of the trade at the Floral Design Institute, I launched my business in 2005. Soon I realized however that I could not gel with the floral industries' environmental practices and felt compelled to find more sustainably grown flowers. As an avid gardener, growing more flowers in my own garden was a first step but soon I needed more space. I started noticing the "forgotten places"; those yards that could use a bit of TLC but also those yards that seemed to have simply too much grass. When approached, many owners were delighted to let me plant flowers in their underused areas. Ever since those days, Petal Passion has become an increasingly prominent floral sight in this North Portland neighborhood. We now offer sustainably grown flowers to the trade as well as retail; by the stem, by the bunch, bouquets or arrangements.

Meet the owner:
Marianna S.
Born and raised in Twente, a region in the eastern part of The Netherlands, I grew up thinking that flowers were a part of everybody's home. My Mother, an avid gardener planted flowers wherever she would find a place and even go so far as to plant her seeds and plant-starts in the cracks and crevices of the concrete pads, accommodating the car. Mom's good flower sense inspired a passion in me of which I became acutely aware once I could no longer take garden space for granted, while living in apartments, basements or tiny city lots. Years of raising children came and went and when I eventually had the opportunity to start a new career, I knew it had to be with flowers. Respect for Mother Nature moved me to look for better options in the flower industry, my independent streak forced me to grow them myself. So here is to Petal Passion’s sustainably grown flowers for more that 10 years already.
