I called ADT solely because i received an electronic ad promoting free security camera system with monitoring contract. I wanted some specifics about the cameras because i was afraid my installation would require more than the norm. I was told on the phone the only way to proceed would be to have someone come to my house and show me. I said OK fine. Then i was informed there would be a $99 fee in order to do so. I told him nevermind but he convinced me to proceed and told me the $99 would be refunded if I did not like what was presented. I reluctantly said OK fine. Technician showed up and was prepared to do "an installation". I informed him that we were not installing anything, as i had not made my decision yet. The tech was very professional, however when i told him i needed time to research and compare services he had to call his office. I was then hit with not one but multiple phone calls from "managers" from various offices putting a very high pressure sales pitch on me. At that point i became disgusted with the process and what i consider deception, and ask that the whole matter be cancelled and my $99 be refunded. I was quickly told that was not possible unless i called back the next day. When i called national office the next day, i was told they could not help me but i would have to call local office, so she gave me the #. I then called local office and yet again was hammered with very strong pressured sales pitch. Even after i threatened a BBB complaint the pressure continued. I was then placed on hold for several minutes and FINALLY was informed that credit was processed. We will see how long it takes before it actual hits my account. I had been an ADT customer in a past life but will never be again. Besides their tactics, i chose not to proceed with ADT due to the fact they do not offer a DVR and i think their cameras are rinky dink. That was MY choice. Think twice and get all the details people.
