Used Oil - the used motor oil generated through oil changes is burned on-site in an EPA approved oil burner, providing the shop with its winter heating needs. This technology makes use of a waste and conserves energy resources. Used oil filters are crushed on location to extract the residual oil before being recycled. Cleaning Solvents - Humboldt Automotive bought new water-based parts cleaner soon after joining the EnviroStars program. Parts are washed and the cleaning fluid recycled on site, saving money and reducing pollution. For parts too big to fit in the washer, Loomis often trades machining work or other services with businesses that have larger washers. Fuel Injection Systems - Humboldt recently purchased a system that cycles cleaning chemicals through the engine filters and recycles the chemicals.
