First Choice In-Home Care

First Choice In-Home Care was created in 1999 to help families within the community find reliable and trustworthy caregivers to provide personal care services to families and individuals in need. Executive Director, Jim Lord, and his wife, Rhona Lord, have first-hand knowledge of how difficult the process to find a caregiver can be.

At the time the company was founded, the Lord family had struggled relentlessly to find a capable caregiver for their son, who was diagnosed with Autism. Like most parents of a child with developmental delays, the Lord family had high expectations for the person who was going to be trusted to look after their child and they understood the importance of finding the "right" person; a person who was caring, capable, understanding, trustworthy and reliable.

After developing their own caregiver training program which provided instruction on caregiving fundamentals and working with individuals with special needs, they began hiring and training caregivers to work with their son and to work with other families in need. The benefits of a well-trained caregiver were undeniable and they could see improvements in the health and happiness of their entire family and the families they served.

First Choice In-Home Care started as a small, family-based organization and soon began to grow rapidly as the company's reputation for providing care you can trust spread throughout the community.
