Career Matters

Katharine Nelson M.S., has been providing career development and career counseling services for individuals and organizations for over 30 years. During 20 of those years, she worked at the University of Washington as a career counselor for graduate and undergraduate students, departments, and student and staff organizations. In addition, Ms. Nelson has taught in the UW Career Development Certificate Program for several years, earning the prestigious Award for Teaching Excellence in 2001. She is a Master Career Counselor, granted by the National Career Development Association, as well as a National Certified Career Counselor (one of nine in Washington state). This certification, obtained through the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), requires demonstrating related work experience, satisfying course prerequisites, and completing a national exam process. She is also a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
