Lin Annie Xiang, founder and president of Yamei Counseling Center, has more than 10 years experience assisting students in college preparation, admission, and adjusting to American academic life. Under her guidance, hundreds of students have been accepted to well known universities such as, Ivy League Universities, University of California system, New York University, University of Southern California, and others. Lin has established an innovated learning strategy to motivate students, especially new immigrant students in pursuit of higher education. With a strong knowledge in school counseling and bilingual skill in Chinese Mandarin and Cantonese, Lin has led multiple college counseling programs in the past five years. She is experienced in all aspects of college counseling, the college admission process, college choice and major matching, course planning, financial aid and scholarship, and specialize programs for domestic and international students. In 2011, Lin designed a college preparation program tailor for new immigrant students, including transition to American culture; understanding the American university system, education and career path planning and internships. She directed and implemented the program to various organizations and schools worldwide. From 2007 through 2010, Lin was the summer instructor for College 4 kids at Mt. San Antonio College, teacher aid for Nogales high school and Rincon middle school in Los Angeles. Lin also was an intern school counselor for Emma Lazarus high school and Dr. Sun Yet Sat middle school in New York City. In addition, Lin was the program director and teacher at Angel Center in Brooklyn, NY, where she taught 2nd -11th grade English as a second language and life skill class. Lin graduated from University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor Degree in Asian American studies, and a Master Degree from New York University in Applied Psychology with an emphasis in k-12 school counseling. She is the school counselor and also the member of Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC). Lin has also been to Beijing Normal University as an exchange student during undergraduate study. Currently she is in the process of obtaining the college counseling certification at UCLA extension.
