Extremely Unprofessional and Declasse

In October 2009, Vicktoria Baylor (Vice President of Franchise Development) requested I perform copyediting services for Americare and instructed me verbally on what she wanted done. She suggested they pay me $15 hourly and that I submit my invoice when I completed the work. Upon receipt of my invoice, Ms. Baylor told me it exceeded their anticipated budget. She then emailed me a list of instructions for the project, and outlined places where she claimed I fell short. Not only was this the first written documented instruction I received, the list included items not included in her verbal instructions.

Extremely Unprofessional!

It was accompanied by a letter from Vice President of Operations Mike Reis, in which he informed me that my payment was being given as a "courtesy" rather than payment for services rendered. Their actions were outrageous: Americare's budget was only mentioned after I submitted my invoice. The only documented instruction I received for this work came after I completed it. I would not even have received my so-called "courtesy" compensation had I not been absolutely adamant and proactive in my efforts as Americare made absolutely no effort to resolve this issue with me.
