I took my car to 1st Choice Auto Body in Trevose, PA for substantial repairs due to an accident that bashed in one side of my car and caused a severely bent wheel on the other. Even after having my car for over one month, 1st Choice returned it to me without a new wheel; one for which the insurance claim paid. Once I got the car on the highway, it rattled and felt very unsafe. At anything above 35 mph the steering wheel shook so badly, I could hardly drive. When I returned the car and questioned the staff about it, they told me “they forgot” to put the new wheel on. The owner actually told me it was a “minor oversight.” Two return trips to 1st Choice did not resolve the problem and even revealed a few others. I asked them to look into why my driver’s side mirror shook and why my driver’s side window was getting stuck. After calling me to the shop to tell me the car was again complete, I actually arrived to a car with no back on the driver’s side mirror and the panel that holds the operating buttons for the window literally hanging off the door. The manager spent a few minutes berating the mechanic in front of me, leaving me convinced that these folks were not to be respected or trusted. Finally, out of shear frustration, I paid to have the car looked at and repaired by another collision company. They discovered a cracked brake rotor that was never addressed. Cracked is a mild way to put it, as about 30% of the rotor was completely missing…picture a pie with 3 hefty slices cut out…that’s what was left of the rotor, and this was the cause of the shaking and noise for which I first returned the car to 1st Choice. The staff at 1st Choice is friendly, and they seemed willing to take the car back time and time again. But why would anyone put themselves through that aggravation, particularly since they seem unable to do the repairs completely and competently. You will get lots of smooth talk about being 100% satisfied, but talk is all it is.
