Lawrence\'s brings me back to my childhood. While I grew up on the northside, all of my paternal family is in Bridgeport. Literally... without fail... after eating the Christmas/Easter/Thanksgiving/etc crap my uncles would procure from some awful catering company, my father would insist on stopping at Lawrence\'s on the way home. I remember waiting in the car \'cause the riff raff inside at midnight were a little too shady for me. Ahh... how times have changed. I went through a stage where I probably WAS that riff raff standing around at Lawrence\'s at 2am. OK... maybe not. The best here: just the plain ol\' fried shrimp. It\'s heaven. Buy a bottle of sauce because those little containers aren\'t enough. I could drink that stuff. Their mushrooms are good too but I could use a bigger order. I had the catfish there once and it was ok... a little undercooked which meant that the breading fell off as soon as you picked up a chunk... but that\'s my fault for straying from the tried and true.
