Ms. Schall is a Certified Family Law Specialist and was recommended by several friends because of her reputation for being an advocate for the disadvantaged spouse and being a "bulldog" inside and outside of court. At the time of her retainment, the husband was an executive and high income earner. She was asked to subpoena the husband's business records and I mistakenly assumed this attorney, with over 37 years of experience, would follow the Code of Civil Procedure. Ms. Schall chose not to follow procedural mandated codes when she decided to assign herself as the deposition officer (which is not allowed), for the husband's business/employment records. A professional photocopying service should have been named as the deposition officer, not my legal representative. She then elected to mail the deposition subpoena instead of having the court ordered document hand delivered. This is also a clear violation of the law and because of this, contempt remedies were forfeited when the employer disobedied the subpoena. Ms. Schall further botched the subpoena by failing to send the husband's attorney a copy of the subpoena. The husband's right to object to the subpoena were not an option because he never knew about the subpoena. This is also a violation of the CCP. The employer provided a minimal amount of employment records but those records were never authenticated or verified as legitimate because Ms. Schall neglected to provide the employer an affidavit or description of the records to be produced. Ms. Schall refused to subpoena other business affilations of the husband's when asked. THIS ATTORNEY DOES NOT CARRY MALPRACTICE INSURANCE and I would strongly advise against hiring this attorney who makes up her own rules at the expense of her client. As it turned out she advocated for my husband and his interests at the expense of her client. At the advisement of the State Bar a complaint has been filed for intentional negligence and attorney oath violations.
