I recently resigned from Hi Pt Tennis Center two months ago after almost twelve years in order to be closer to my home. The staff there are all great people and Mr. Sumrow who runs the facility along with this wife Pam and his son Clint are first class individuals and I would like to say how much I respect all of them and thank them for the opportunity to spend so many wonderful years there. In the time I was there I was fortunate to teach so many great people of all ages. I wish all the people there the very best with their tennis and their lives. Sincerely Mike Seybold.
High Point is a great place to learn and play tennis. Mike Seybold who recently resigned from there was my coach for almost 3 years. I am very sad to see him go because he is such an awesome coach. He worked diligently with my team that consisted mainly of players new to tennis and he never gave up on us in spite of our stubbornness and shortcomings. He has so much patience. I have also observed him coaching the kids (both young ones and teens) and he exercises the same great patience with them. I feel fortunate to have benefitted from his vast knowledge of the game that he obtained during his many years of coaching including information not only about the basics -- grips, strokes, and footwork -- but also strategies and the mental side of the game. In addition to that, he helped mold me as a team captain for competitive leagues and for that I will always be thankful as I enjoy it very much. Most importantly, Mike has a genuine love for the game and for coaching, is a lot of fun, and makes learning tennis fun and I will profoundly miss his presence at High Point.
Mike Seybold is a certified USPTA pro who has successfully coached at clubs and resorts in Texas since the early 80,s. A former player at LSU, Mike began is career at Lakeway Resort in Austin before moving to Dallas to join the staff at Brookhaven Country Club. He then took over as Head Pro at Walnut Creek in Mansfield before moving to Los Colinas to join the prestigious Four Seasons Resort. There he trained the ball persons for several pro events involving tour players Pete Sampras and Ivan Lendl. After his next Head Pro Job at The Shores in Rockwall that club was sold and he moved on to Springpark in Richardson where he took over a grassroots building project for their tennis program building the membership from zero to 240 in a little over a year.. Recently he resigned after ten years as a coach at Plano Tennis Center to be closer to home. Mikes most memorable moment came when at Lakeway he and his doubles partner broke the worlds record for continuous doubles play of 103 hours to raise money for charity. He enjoys coaching all ages and levels..
Readers should be aware that there is a psycho with a criminal record who posted trash on the internet trying to defame Mike Seybold a excellent tennis coach with over 2o years of experience. These days ANYONE CAN SAY ANYTHING on the internet under the cowardly cloak of made up names which in fact have little or no truth. The person writing these blogs has a criminal record and has been arrested for selling drugs and aggravated sexual assault. The police are aware he wrote these blogs as well as stalking and making threats. Mike is a very successful coach with excellent character and has a excellent work record with the city of plano. Please disregard the lies from this disturbed person.
Its sad anyone can post garbage on internet sites under cowardly cloak of privacy without any proof. Fact is the person writing this is out for revenge for something his wife actively and willingly did ovet two years ago. Everyone knew the facts and the matter was closed. The writer has serious problems and has a criminal record which is on record. He continues to stalk on the internet and at work even though twyears ago was told by plano dectectives to cease the behaviour his response was lol he has no regard for law or anything else when nothing else worked ke then started to make up lies about personal information whic have no basis of fact other than in is sick mind anyone reading his reviews needs to take what he says as what it is garbage
The Tennis Center is a good facility. Unfortunately, one of the ten nis coaches Michael Seybold had sex in the parking lot of the tennis center with one of his married students. His boss, Ken Sumrow refused to do anything about it even though it was brought to his attention that he had approached other women as well and I suspect this behavior has been going on for many years. On December 23 of 2009 he was in the parking lot after the center was closed having sex in his Toyota Rav4. He had been sending thousands of text messages back and forth trying to convince the woman her marriage was over and to have sex with him. He ended up having a 3 week affair which led to his getting caught in the parking lot having sex with the woman. He appears to be hunting for a woman to support him since he has no place to live, only a leased auto, and 6 failed marriages. He was actually married to his 6th wife during all of this and refused to move out of the house resulting in his wife getting a foreclosure in her name. She had bought the house because Mike already had a foreclosure bad credit then added him to the Deed after they married. A mistake she regrets. There are numerous other reviews about Mike Seybold by a few others with concerns and stories to tell, yet the City of Plano and Ken Sumrow seem to condone this type of behavior. I know of a physical trainer that was terminated from a Fitness Center for having sex with clients. As should any business. The students teacher/coach relationship should never be allowed to involve sexual behavior at any age. For this reason I rate the tennis center 3 stars. Mike Seybold and his boss are a blemish to the City of Plano.
